60 Seconds With … Alex Brown

Alex Brown, Design and Production Manager at Azura International, has a Bachelor of Arts degree and a vast creative background. He has been in the industry for nearly 20 years Designing and managing Production. When he’s not designing you find him in the gym lifting weights and doing Brazilian Jujitsu.

How did you get into airfreight/logistics?

After my degree and my first job I was looking for a new job in Design and I found a vacancy at Azura international as a Design and Production Assistant.

What quote has most resonated with you?

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.”

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

To always believe in yourself even if others don’t.

What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?

A Bungee jump

If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would it be and why?

My Grandma, Grandad and Auntie who all have passed away.

What’s something we wouldn’t know about you from your CV?

I was A world champion in Martial Arts, which I won in Dublin.

What hobby have you always wanted to try but never got around to?

I always wanted to try Surfing.

If you have not pursued a career in airfreight, what other field would you have liked to go into?

I would have liked to do Animation and films. 

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Superhuman strength

What’s your proudest moment and your biggest regret?

My Proudest moments were the birth of my daughter who came very early. Also, when I Swum at the Olympic trials and was on TV on Grandstand, where I became national champion in my age group in the 100 meters Butterfly. My biggest regret was not learning another language when I was younger.

Looking back over your career, what would your message be to someone considering a career in logistics?

Even though it’s a small industry, there are some welcoming and friendly people.

How do you motivate your team?

I treat them the way I would want to be treated, always giving them praise when its due. A happy team is a hardworking team. 

What is the one item you can’t travel without?

I’m never without my phone. 

Who is your role model?

My Mum

What would your autobiography be called?

“The Bear” This is because when I do Brazilian Jujitsu, I wrestle people they always say I’m like wrestling a Bear. lol

Cats or dogs?

Cats

Early riser or night owl?

I’m a Night owl but as I’m getting older, I’m turning more into an Early riser.

What’s the best and worst purchase you’ve ever made?

Best purchase is a Mercedes C63 AMG V8, I love my cars. The worst purchase was a Guitar as I think I used it once and that’s it. ha

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That would have to be Sushi.
