Five more years as DPDHL CEO for Frank Appel

Frank Appel is to remain as Deutsche Post DHL Group chief executive officer (CEO) until October 2022 after the supervisory board extended his mandate for another five years.

Appel joined Deutsche Post in 2000 as managing director of corporate development, before being promoted to member of the board of management in 2002. The 55-year old has been CEO since 2008.

In his time at the company, he has shaped the Strategy 2015 and the Strategy 2020 is designed to position itself to take advantage of e-commerce across all business sectors.

Before joining Deutsche Post, Appel gained an MSc in Chemistry at the University of Munich and a PhD in Neurobiology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
