Xsight launches ArcWize

Xsight Systems, the provider of Al-based runway safety technology, has launched ArcWize, an advanced runway monitoring solution.

ArcWize automatically alerts airport operators when runway conditions change, enabling airports to easily comply with the Global Reporting Format (GRF) criteria, as well as supporting with real-time decision making and maximising runway availability.

ArcWize uses a multi-layered sensor system to provide 24/7 monitoring of the runway surface while remotely collecting accurate, real-time data. The AI-powered solution continuously monitors the airport runways and automatically alerts airport operators and air traffic controllers to any change to the contaminated runway surface condition. Contaminants such as slush, rainwater, and snow are measured by depth, type, and coverage percentage, as required by the GRF regulation.

Runway Condition Codes (RWYCC), required to provide landing and take-off braking action calculations, are automatically issued per each runway third, aligning with GRF and TALPA regulations. ArcWize also instantly generates the required data to enable real-time updates of SNOWTAM/NOTAM notifications addressed to aircraft operators.

Amir Leybov, CEO and president of Xsight Systems, says: “Take-off and landing are the most critical phases of flight and by providing airports with access to real-time information regarding the runway surface condition, we can reduce the risk of runway safety events, mitigate delays and loss of revenue. ArcWize is an ideal solution tailored to the world’s leading airports. The advanced sensing solution ultimately keeps the airport’s most valuable resource, the runway, safe and productive.”

The GRF regulation, applicable from November 2021, aims to mitigate the risk of runway excursions. ArcWize is being launched ahead of the regulation to enable airports to prepare for the GRF regulation.

The AI-powered multi-layered sensing solution does this by collecting reliable data from multiple sensors deployed along both sides of the runway which can then be integrated with an airport’s other systems.

Leybov continues: “Not only does ArcWize support and adhere to the GRF regulation, it also provides cutting-edge technology that can enable airport operators to increase operational efficiency and build runway capacity. We’re confident that ArcWize will take runway safety to the next level through real-time digitalisation and 24/7 visualisation of the runway.”
