For two days, on 24th and 25th February, about 100 developers in 9 teams from all over the world pondered how IATAs ONE Record standard can be used to make supply chains more efficient. Among the four challenges addressed at the current IATA Hackathon in Dublin was the first Jettainer ULD challenge. The objective was to create a solution for an AI-assisted serviceability check of a ULD. The best approach was found by the Champ Cargosystems team, to whom Jettainer CEO Dr. Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt presented the award endowed with 3,000 dollars.
With Luna the team developed an AI powered assistant for serviceability checks of any type of ULD using voice, text, and pictures. The solution meets the need for fast, precise and fully automated ULD assessment by leveraging the power of the ONE Record API.
“The competition of ideas and creative solutions here in Dublin was absolutely first class. There were numerous good and innovative approaches, but the Champ Cargosystems team narrowly came out on top and deserved it well. Their approach is very promising,” emphasized Dr. Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt when presenting the award. “The introduction of ONE Record opens up a world of new possibilities that we will use to add further value to our ULD management services. We are actively driving this development forward because we are absolutely convinced of its potential.”
The winners were selected by a jury of well-experienced experts from the industry who evaluated the results according to the criteria originality and innovation, technical merit & difficulty, impact and presentation skills. The other awards went to the PLAC1 team (One Record Prize), NE:ONE Simulate (Open Logistics Foundation Prize) and PHP (Riege developer Prize).
“The ONE Record Hackathons are always a source of inspiration with many innovative approaches that are worth pursuing. It is truly exciting and I can’t wait to see these ideas implemented in the near future,” draws Henk Mulder, Head of Digital Cargo at IATA, as a positive conclusion.
