Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has been awarded the first Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certificate for a cargo handling company in South Africa.
The certificates cover temperature-controlled pharma facilities in Johannesburg and Cape Town, which are aligned to ISO9001:2015 standards.
Pharma volumes coming into South Africa have increased 15% in the past two years and the investment supports WFS’s investment in upgrading pharma facilities.
In 2019, WFS has invested in new pharma facilities in Copenhagen, Miami, New York JFK and Paris CDG.
The GDP certificates in Johannesburg and Cape Town followed an audit of WFS’s cargo operations by DQS.
Malcolm Tonkin, general manager cargo for WFS in South Africa says: “Earning GDP certification recognises the professionalism of our team in South Africa and was also achieved with online training support from specialists in the WFS Academy.
“With the South African pharma market projecting continued high-level growth, we also hope our investment will encourage more airlines to choose WFS as their handling partner, based on the enhanced quality of service we now offer.”
