Volga-Dnepr’s van de Weg resigns from his role

Volga-Dnepr Group’s senior vice president of sales and marketing, Robert van de Weg has resigned after three months in the role.

The Russian air cargo operator says he will continue to co-operate with the Group on a strategic level. He was appointed in October last year.

Van de Weg looked after the commercial side for the Group – including for AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC), Volga-Dnepr Airlines and Atran Airlines. Before that he was senior vice president of marketing and sales for ABC, which he joined in May 2014.

A Volga-Dnepr statement says: “Since joining us in early 2014, Robert’s expertise has enabled the Group to progress further towards its ambitious targets. He has made a significant contribution in terms of network development, new organisational structures, and in introducing other industry experts to the Group.

“Robert has also played a key role in continuing to build close and trusted relationships with our customers and business partners, and in ensuring the development of our products and services is in line with the requirements of our global customers.

“Group management team thanks Robert and underlines that, even though the market continued to be very challenging, Robert’s leadership has helped AirBridgeCargo to achieve the highest growth dynamics in the industry for three consecutive years.”

The move is the second high-profile senior exit from the Volga-Dnepr Group in about six months, as in August last year, ABC’s executive vice president, Denis Ilin resigned his position after three years in the role.
