US president Barack Obama visits Ethiopian Airlines

US president Barak Obama paid a visit to Ethiopian Airlines during his three-day visit to Ethiopia from 26-28 July.

Prior to his departure at Bole International Airport, the president visited the first Ethiopian Boeing 787 Dreamliner dubbed ‘Africa First’.
He also held brief discussions with Tewolde GebreMariam, chief executive officer of the Ethiopian Airlines Group.

The carrier says president Obama expressed his appreciation for the longstanding partnership between Ethiopian and Boeing.
Gebremariam also explained to the president that Ethiopian operates 13 Dreamliners and has a further eight on order.

Addressing the president’s query regarding Ethiopian’s most profitable routes, the CEO says Washington DC, Beijing, Shanghai (China), Changzhou (China), Hong Kong, and Luanda are the most profitable for the airline.
