UK Warehousing Association welcomes news of £40bn investment by Amazon

The UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) has warmly welcomed Amazon’s plans to invest £40bn in the UK over the next three years.

Commenting on the online giant’s largest ever UK investment announcement, UKWA’s policy & public affairs director Edwin Morgan said: “This investment is a real shot in the arm for the UK economy and shows what a big difference UKWA members like Amazon make to job opportunities, as well as to key sectors like technology and the creative industries.

“With the Government recognising the importance of logistics in this week’s Industrial Strategy, Amazon’s investment is a perfect example of how our sector is stepping up, driving innovation and growth.”

According to Amazon, this investment includes four new fulfilment centres (in Hull, Northampton and the East Midlands), new delivery stations nationwide, and two new corporate offices (in addition to existing offices in Manchester and London), creating thousands of new jobs and supporting growth across every region of the UK.
