Tonnage record in 2015 for Leipzig

Leipzig Halle Airport set a tonnage record for the 11th consecutive year in 2015, handling 988,240 tonnes of cargo.

Operator Mitteldeutsche Flughafen says that this was a growth rate of 8.5 per cent compared to the tonnage figure achieved 2014.

In December, the airport handled 89,857 tonnes and the gateway says this was a new record for handling freight in any month in the company’s history as volumes rose by 10.3 per cent in comparison with the same month the previous year.

Mitteldeutsche Flughafen board spokesman, Johannes Jähn says: “Having registered the 11th year of growth in succession, Leipzig Halle Airport has underlined its position as one of the airfreight handling sites with the most dynamic growth rates in the world.”
