Strong June boosts Frankfurt’s first half results

Frankfurt Airport has seen cargo and mail volumes increase by 3.3 per cent to 179,808 tonnes in June, helping to boost first half results.

June is only the second month of 2016 to see a year-on-year increase apart from April, when volumes soared by five per cent due to strong growth in China, Japan and India. The strong months in June and April mean volumes for the first six months are up by 0.7 per cent to 1.04 million tonnes.

Other Fraport operated airports have had mixed results, generally seeing either double-digit increases or falls. Ljubljana was up 2.3 per cent in June to 879 tonnes, while Lima was down 10.8 per cent to 20,194 tonnes. In Bulgaria, Burgas fell 40.4 per cent to 1,098 tonnes and Varna was down 4.1 per cent to 11 tonnes. Hanover saw a 20.9 per cent increase to 1,553 tonnes while Xi’an was up 14.2 per cent to 17,898 tonnes.
