Smiths Detection’s dual-view air cargo scanner TSA qualified

Smiths Detection today announces that its dual-view air cargo scanner, the HI-SCAN 145180-2is pro, has been added onto the “Qualified” section of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Air Cargo Screening Technology List (ACSTL) under the latest program requirements to ensure security of cargo aboard aircraft.

The ACSTL serves as TSA’s official guide for regulated parties to use when procuring screening devices and associated trace consumables in accordance with TSA approved security programs.

The HI-SCAN 145180-2is pro is a fast and effective inspection system that is specifically designed to meet the rigorous demands of air cargo screening. The scanner is equipped with two 200 kV X-ray generators, one of which is uniquely positioned under the conveyor, to deliver excellent penetration, superior image quality, more efficiency, and easy access for maintenance and service.

“We work hard every day to provide technology that both protects people and assets from threats and supports time-critical operations, so we are delighted to receive confirmation that the HI-SCAN 145180-2is pro has been qualified on the TSA ACSTL,” said Shan Hood, president of Smiths Detection Inc.

“Due to the majority of air cargo being carried on passenger planes and threats becoming more prevalent and complex, ICAO recommends 100% security screening of consolidated and palletised freight. Through this state-of-the-art screening system we are able to provide air cargo operators with both confidence and compliance.”
