Qatar Airways has increased Australian services with daily Boeing 777-300 flights from Doha to Sydney.
The Sydney service will offer 84 tonnes of cargo capacity a week, adding to the 301 tonnes available on services to Melbourne and Perth. The route is expected to generate about 3,000 jobs in New South Wales and contribute 240 million Australian dollars ($173.5 million). The flight leaves Doha at 20.10h, arriving in Sydney at 18.05h the next day. The return flight leaves Sydney at 22.20h and arrives back in Doha at 05.05h the next day.
Sydney Airport managing director and chief executive officer, Kerrie Mather says: “It will foster trade, providing greater air cargo capacity and access to the Middle East. Australian exports to Doha grew by 23 per cent last year, and the State of Qatar’s high demand for livestock, cereal, meat, dairy products and crops provides a significant opportunity for Australian exporters.”
