PayCargo expands under van der Walt’s leadership

PayCargo continues to expand with 13 new customers joining the PayCargo Payment Network since Lionel van der Walt joined in July.

The appointment of van der Walt as president and CEO of The Americas followed a global agreement between PayCargo and IATA earlier this year to create the IATA-PayCargo System to settle payments in the air cargo industry.

Van der Walt says: “Digital technology and online payment systems are no longer just predictions for the future of freight, they are already here, and we are proud to provide best in class solutions to our partners and clients as the industry continues to evolve.”

He is replacing Eduardo Del Riego as CEO of The Americas, who is now leading PayCargo’s global strategies and expansions as Global CEO.

Brian Akers has also joined the team as vice president sales, working alongside Timothy Walton who has been with PayCargo since 2013.

Akers says: “I am very excited about joining PayCargo as an opportunity to expand our customer base with the world’s leading and fastest growing online payment platform for the shipping and cargo industry.”

Leonardo Hanon is moving from assistant vice president sales to assistant vice president operations, where he will lead day-to-day operations of the customer service team.
