Pangea members coordinate out-of-gauge shipment

Three members of Pangea Logistics Network coordinated an out-of-gauge shipment for a customer’s production line that was behind schedule.

German member Blue Freight Services coordinated the shipment with Belgian counterpart Cobelair and Express Air Freight (Houston) in the US to move a tailor-made shelter for a production line.

The dimensions were 498x251x295cm plus 178x121x123cm and weighed 4.1 tonnes. The customer had packed the shelter into a crate which could not fit into any cargo flights and a part charter was out of the customer’s budget.

Blue Freight Service re-packaged the cargo into crates able to fit into a Boeing 747-8 Freighter, with the cargo valued at €900,000 being properly insured and flying from Luxembourg to Houston.

Cobelair handled the collection of the crates via flatbed trailer, took charge of the security checks and delivered it to the airline at Luxembourg International Airport.

At Houston International Airport, the Express Airfreight team arranged and supervised the loading operations and delivered the crates to a free trade zone in Geismar, Louisiana.

Delivery was arranged in-bond so that Cnee could pay Duty/VAT after the equipment was moved out of the free trade zone.

The companies had six days to complete the whole project as the customer’s production was already behind schedule.
