MAG’s strong growth continues in January

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has reported strong cargo growth in January across its airports, with London Stansted Airport seeing the largest increase at 10 per cent.

In January, Stansted saw cargo volumes increase by 10 per cent to 20,260 tonnes, East Midlands Airport was up by 6.7 per cent to 26,266 tonnes and Manchester Airport rose by 2.6 per cent to 7,193 tonnes.

MAG says growth came from new routes by China Southern Airlines, Qatar Airways Cargo and Turkish Airlines Cargo, as well as express parcel operators continuing strong form from Christmas. Stansted is expecting further growth when Cargologicair starts operations this month.

British Airways will start scheduled services from East Midlands later this year and Hainan Airlines was announced it will now use Airbus A330-300s instead of A330-200s on its Manchester – Beijing services from June.
