Magma Aviation promotes Tom Helyar as chief strategy officer

Magma Aviation has promoted Tom Helyar to chief strategy officer. Helyar, soon to celebrate 10 years at Magma Aviation, joined the business in 2011 as financial controller, progressing to commercial manager and then general manager in 2015.

This key role will enable Tom to take a more in-depth strategic position within the business, primarily focussed on strategic leadership and operations.

“The past 10 years has been both challenging and rewarding, and I am grateful that I have experienced the transitions that Magma Aviation has gone through” Helyar says. “Joining when the business was an owner managed company, being part of the acquisition team when Magma Aviation joined the Chapman Freeborn Group, and then later becoming part of Avia Solutions Group, has given me real hands on experience, allowing me to develop leadership skills that take me into this new and exciting opportunity, and next stage of my career.

“Over the last 10 years I have seen it all! Being part of the incredible team at Magma Aviation gives me a great feeling of pride. The phenomenal growth the business has seen over the last few years is very rewarding and makes the hard work from myself and the team well worth it. When I joined Magma Aviation, I was the seventh employee, now we employ 50 people and are continuing with our expansion”

Ross Wilson, Magma Aviation CEO comments: “Tom  is a key and fundamental member of our team. This new role will help push Magma Aviation to go to the next level. Tom’s expertise, passion, and determination is what drives him to succeed. I have every faith that Tom will excel in this new role and I wish him every success.”

Helyar says: “Magma Aviation is a fantastic company to work for and it’s the fantastic people who make things happen! Hard work and persistence pay off, and to anyone considering entering this industry, I say – just go for it! I am looking forward to what this next chapter holds, personally and for the business.”
