MAB Kargo has launched its halal logistics service after receiving the MS2400-Halal Certification from JAKIM on 1 May.
The launch was held at the Malaysia Airlines Academy in Kelana Jaya with YB Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid bin Yusof, minister in the prime minister’s department in attendance.
To commemorate the launch, MAB Kargo signed an agreement with their first customers, Sejung Group of Korea, Nippon Express (Malaysia), Labuan Halal Hub and Serunai Commerce to acquire their services.
Ibrahim Mohamed Salleh, chief executive officer of MAB Kargo says the certification comes after two years of work.
He says: “The MABkargo halal logistics is tailored to the needs of the halal industry for reliable, safe and secure air cargo handling. According to a report by the ‘International Market Analysis Research & Consulting Group’, the global halal food market value is projected to reach $2.6 trillion by 2023. We hope to be able to tap into the market to achieve the national target of RM50 billion halal export by 2020.”
MAB Kargo offers hygienic and secure movement, storage and handling of both food and non-food material.
The MS2400-Certification from JAKIM is applicable for MAB Kargo’s warehousing and related activities at its designated area.
MAB Kargo is also now listed on Verify Halal app developed by Serunai Commerce to allow consumers and suppliers to verify the Halal status of a product or premises.
