Lufthansa warns of disruption during ver.di trade union strike

Lufthansa Cargo has warned of delays and disruption due to strikes by the ver.di trade union at Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Dortmund and Hanover airports today (27 April).

The airline warns that striking union members in the ground handling, passenger checks and fire services will result in flight cancellations, primarily at Frankfurt and Munich. Lufthansa Cargo says all cargo flights should operate but warns customers they could be delayed by several hours. No bellyhold capacity will be available at Munich or on Lufthansa Passage flights scheduled to arrive at Frankfurt until 16.00h.

Lufthansa Cargo says: “All Lufthansa Cargo staff are working very hard to keep the effects to a minimum. Your regional Lufthansa Cargo team will be happy to assist you in finding the best possible solution for your consignments.”

It says Eurowings connections from Cologne are expected to operate as normal and Austrian Airlines services from Vienna are not affected. Lufthansa also says continental cargo bookings will be transferred to its road feeder services where possible.
