Lufthansa chooses Militzer & Münch as European myAirCargo partner

Lufthansa Cargo has appointed Militzer & Münch as its exclusive European partner for the myAirCargo product, to allow private customers to transport bulky goods by air.

It was awarded the contract in January 2016, and Militzer & Münch will coordinate the handling in the Europe region from Frankfurt. Staff from the branch office are responsible for the collection of goods for export, drawing up accompanying documents and getting the shipment ready for transport including weighing, measuring, customs clearance and security check. For imports, staff do the customs clearance and on-carriage to the consignee.

Militzer & Münch managing director global air & sea and member of the group management, Klaus Jäger says: “We are glad we have convinced Lufthansa Cargo with our knowhow to cooperate with us in Europe, in import a well as in export.”

Lufthansa Cargo director offer innovation, Dr Pilar Fresnillo says: “We are glad that now also our private customers can directly profit from our long years of experience in air freight. The cooperation with competent logistics partners makes it possible.”

At present, myAirCargo is only available on routes connecting Europe and the US. Militzer & Münch’s US partner Pilot Freight Services does the US handling.

MyAirCargo is designed for items and objects weighing over 50 kilogrammes and is designed for products including furniture or an art object that is too large or heavy to take home as carry-on luggage.
