ACE: Lufthansa Cargo offers real time tracking with liveSensor

Lufthansa Cargo is now allowing customers to track shipment over the course of their entire route in real time with its ‘liveSensor’ tracking service.

The optional service, not only determines the location but also whether transport conditions have been complied with.

It also detects factors including temperature, humidity and pressure, can record data such as vibration and alignment, while light sensors determine whether and when a shipment has been opened, which serves as protection against theft.

Lufthansa Cargo offers the service for a flat fee covering all logistics relating to tracking devices, from delivery to collection.

The linked tracking portal allows customers to apply user-defined settings such as modality of status messages or adjustments to temperature ranges, while virtual geographic boundaries can also be defined, meaning specific information is available in the event of damage or loss.

The service is available for booking in 13 European countries as well as the USA, and will be rolled out worldwide.
