Logistics UK’s response to accelerated aviation security checks

“News that the government has accelerated the national security vetting checks that all new aviation recruits must undergo will be welcomed by the air freight sector,” says Alexandra Herdman, policy manager at Logistics UK.

“While safety and security must always be of paramount importance, it is vital that new staff can be processed into their roles as quickly as possible, particularly as the sector continues to experience a surge in demand. New staff will be crucial if operators are to maintain the UK’s highly interconnected air supply chain, which supports so many critical areas of the UK’s economy, and our members look forward to working with government to ensure that the recruitment process can be completed as quickly as possible.”

Logistics UK is one of the UK’s leading business groups, representing logistics businesses which are vital to keeping the UK trading, and more than seven million people directly employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With COVID-19, Brexit, new technology and other disruptive forces driving change in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain, logistics has never been more important to UK plc.

Logistics UK supports, shapes and stands up for safe and efficient logistics, and is the only business group which represents the whole industry, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods.
