Logistics requests on the rise for Desol

North Wales’ leading logistics company is working around the clock to meet customer demands in the run-up to Christmas and the new Welsh lockdown.

Delivery Solutions (Delsol) has seen a significant increase in enquiries from businesses wanting help fulfilling their online orders.

But the final few days leading up to Christmas have seen a further spike in demand, something the company expects will continue following the Welsh Government’s decision to impose fresh lockdown measures from Christmas Eve.

The increasing demand from online retailers has kept Delsol’s 145-strong workforce and 120 vehicles busy, while demand for space in its 120,000 sq. ft. storage facility in Sandycroft, Deeside, has never been greater.

Dave Phillips, Delsol’s managing director, commented: “We are seeing record number of enquiries from companies needing logistics support to fulfil their customers’ online orders.

“Christmas is always a busy time for us, but this year it is even more so. Continuing concerns over the pandemic have meant more people than ever are doing their shopping online. The announcement of the latest lockdown measures in Wales starting on Christmas Eve is likely to mean that the demand to fulfil huge numbers of online orders will continue well into the New Year and beyond.

“The increasing demand from customers for us to support them with their direct to consumer deliveries has given us an interesting challenge of meeting their needs along with our more traditional commercial deliveries. It has been a remarkable year in lots of ways and I am delighted how well the Delsol team has risen to the challenges and opportunities we have faced.

“The investment we have made in recent years ensured that we were able to adapt quickly to the different needs of some customers, while also providing continuity of service to some of our longer standing clients. The combination of high-quality people, a modern, varied and extensive vehicle fleet and our storage capability has held us in good stead to meet the demands of COVID-19.”

Delsol, which has depots in Caernarfon and Sandycroft, is a member of The Pallet Network, The Alternative Parcel Network (APC Overnight) and The Hazchem Network.
