LATAM’s struggles continue in January

LATAM Airlines Group’s struggles continue as revenue tonne kilometres (RTK) fell by 10.7 per cent in January, due to weakness in Brazil.

Cargo for the group, which consists of LAN and TAM Airlines, measured in RTK fell by 10.7 per cent to 288 million, with capacity in available tonne kilometres (ATK) dropped by 5.7 per cent to 576 million. The cargo load factor fell by 2.8 percentage points to 49.9 per cent.

The January results follow weakness seen throughout 2015. For the year, RTK fell by 12 per cent to 3.8 per cent, with ATK down 1.9 per cent. The load factor for the year was down 6.2 percentage points to 53.6 per cent.
