Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) has opened its first office in the Dominican Republic to handle both sea and airfreight.
The company says the office, based in the capital, Santo Domingo, will offer special facilities for pharmaceuticals, perishables and consumer goods. K+N says the Dominican Republic’s geographic position makes it a strategic location for imports and exports with short transit times.
K+N managing director in the Caribbean, Central America and Venezuela, Eduardo Steigerwald says: “We are proud to open our first office in the Dominican Republic, which is another cornerstone in Kuehne + Nagel’s Caribbean network. We are confident that under the stable economic conditions we will quickly expand.”
K+N president in South and Central America, Reto Malfatti says: “The strong free zones incentives in combination with various trade agreements in place makes the Dominican Republic an interesting market. For the constantly growing number of internationally companies operating on the island, it is our goal to make Kuehne + Nagel the logistics provider of choice.”
