Kirsten de Bruijn to leave role as WestJet’s Executive Vice President of Cargo

WestJet’s Executive Vice President Cargo Kirsten de Bruijn is to leave the company in June, three years after taking on the role at the Canadian carrier.

In a post on LinkedIn, Alexis von Hoensbroech, CEO of WestJet, stated: “I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Kirsten de Bruijn, WestJet’s Executive Vice-President Cargo. We have seen significant growth and success in our cargo business thanks to Kirsten’s expertise and leadership.

“She was instrumental in building and growing a high-performing cargo organization capable of succeeding within a rapidly evolving market. With the team well established, Kirsten has notified us of her intention to leave WestJet come June. On behalf of the entire WestJet team, we thank Kirsten for her tremendous contributions.”

Responding to von Hoensbroech, de Bruijn said: “Leading WestJet Cargo and building such an incredible team has been both an honor and a privilege. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together, navigating a dynamic market and establishing a strong cargo business.

“As the freighters transition out of WestJet’s operations, this feels like the right time for me to embrace new challenges. Until then, I remain fully committed to supporting the team and ensuring a smooth transition.
To the entire WestJet Cargo team—thank you for your dedication and passion. Working alongside you has been truly rewarding.”
