Turkish freight forwarder Solibra Lojistik Hizmetleri is donating $1 from every shipment to feed and cover medical expenses of stray animals in Istanbul.

“Many animals, losing their natural environment in the ever-growing, 15-million-strong city of Istanbul, have to lead poor and miserable lives on the streets, sometimes also suffering from cruel treatment,” says a company statement.

Life on the streets is hard and brutal for strays, the abandoned animals that cannot survive without the help of humans.

“Disease, accidents, starvation, extreme heat or cold await many street animals,” added the statement.

The estimated number of stray cats and dogs together in the city is around 250,000, according to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Veterinary Services Directorate.

“For every shipment booking with us, we will donate $1 to feed and cover medical costs of stray animals. Invoices and receipts of donations are broadcast on our blog.

“The Cargo Connections head office is sure the stray animals in Istanbul are grateful for Solibra for this act of kindness,” added the statement.

Solibra is a member of Cargo Connections network.
