Innovation in India

With a mission to innovate the traditional GSSA model, which has remained largely unchanged for decades, Aeroprime is committed to creating a more globally integrated and technologically driven GSSA platform. Working with over 20 airlines across passenger and cargo sectors, Aeroprime aims to continue expanding its network, focusing on digitising air cargo operations through the development of a platform called Cargo Next. This platform will enable seamless booking and real-time tracking for customers, addressing communication challenges that currently exist in the cargo industry.

“Innovation, technology, and a customer-first approach are at the heart of Aeroprime’s vision as we redefine the General Sales Agent (GSA) model in both passenger and cargo aviation, driving global expansion and operational excellence,” Abhishek Goyal, Executive Director and CEO of Aeroprime, stated.

“We can prioritise customer satisfaction by focusing on niche markets like pharma and perishables, ensuring real-time updates and timely deliveries that set us apart in a competitive landscape.”

On the operations side, Aeroprime has established in-house teams across major Indian airports and even tier-two cities. This presence ensures smooth cargo handling and real-time updates, particularly crucial for time-sensitive cargo like perishables and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, the company has developed a strong interline connectivity strategy and road feeder services network, enabling seamless transfers between smaller hubs and major airports.

“Coupled with innovations like Sustainable Aviation Fuels and localized teams across key airports, we’re setting new standards in cargo handling and redefining the role of GSAs in the aviation industry,” he continued.

Future insights

In terms of future trends, Aeroprime sees digitalisation as key to unlocking new growth opportunities, especially for e-commerce exports out of India. While domestic e-commerce logistics have seen substantial success, the international export market remains underdeveloped, and there is significant scope for improvement in streamlining booking and shipment processes digitally.

“Covid-19 has reshaped the aviation industry’s view on cargo, proving its profitability. While market corrections have followed, emerging markets like India offer substantial growth opportunities, especially through digitalisation and improved infrastructure for perishable goods and e-commerce exports,” Goyal outlined.

Operating in India’s fragmented market requires well-trained manpower and more robust infrastructure to support growing cargo demands. Seasonality is another challenge that disrupts pricing and demand trends. Aeroprime is focused on finding ways to overcome these fluctuations by building transshipment opportunities and strengthening connectivity within the Indian market.

“While India faces challenges such as fragmented infrastructure and seasonal fluctuations, its strategic location and economic growth present immense potential for the country to become a key player in global airfreight,”Abhishek said.

“Aeroprime’s growth strategy is centred on expanding our client portfolio and forging new cargo partnerships, all while leveraging technology to deliver seamless and innovative air cargo solutions.

“Our vision is clear: to become a global player in the aviation industry by prioritising customer-centric approaches and addressing the challenges within the air cargo sector.”
