IAG Cargo prevents lettuce shortage in the UK

IAG Cargo has prevented a national shortage of lettuce in the UK with one shipment alone carrying over 30,000 of the vegetables from Los Angeles.

As the UK swelters in its heatwave, lettuces were disappearing fast from supermarket shelves, but IAG Cargo has plugged the gap with a shipment of over 30,000 heads of iceberg lettuce coming from Los Angeles this weekend alone.

IAG Cargo director of sales, marketing and products, Camilo Garcia says: “We take the responsibility of shipping lettuce to the UK very seriously – our dedicated ‘Constant Fresh’ product team ensure that lettuce heads arrive promptly and in excellent condition in London Heathrow ready to hit supermarket shelves across the country.

“We fly cargo directly to 28 destinations in North America, and will be increasing the Miami route frequency to three times a day as of winter 2018. This is all the more relevant at a time when a national shortage of fresh greens is probable.”
