Grunenthal picks Kuehne + Nagel for global transportation

Kuehne + Nagel is to provide pharmaceutical research company Grunenthal with land, air and sea transportation for its highly sensitive products.

The two companies will work together to develop a product tailored to the requirements of Grunenthal Group with KN PharmaChain as its core element.

Kuehne + Nagel was the first logistics provider to receive IATA Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics for its KN PharmaChain network covering 86 locations, ensuring integrity of pharmaceutical products throughout its airfreight supply chain.

Grunenthal senior vice president global supply chain, Victor Barbosa says: “With this new agreement, we were able to combine all our global forwarding services with the Kuehne + Nagel Group. This centralisation and our partner’s expertise in the pharmaceutical industry will help us to make our processes more efficient and enhance our competitiveness.”

Kuehne + Nagel Germany managing director, Dr Hansjorg Rodi says: “Our aim is to reshape the entire network for logistics services together with the customer. To achieve this, we will utilise our expertise in providing services for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, which is of strategic importance for Kuehne + Nagel.”

Grunenthal, which is headquartered in Aachen, has production sites in Europe and Latin America and is represented in 32 countries through its subsidiaries.
