UK airfreight logistics company Goldstar Heathrow has placed its first order with leading commercial vehicle body and trailer manufacturer Cartwright.

Goldstar operates from its Colnbrook headquarters providing air freight handling, inter-airport trunking and specialist logistics services from key airport locations. It also offers UK nationwide transportation solutions.

The road transport operator ordered 37 trailers from Cartwright after launching a tender process involving three trailer manufacturers. Goldstar was impressed by Cartwright’s competitive pricing and quality build both being key factors in awarding the contract to the South Manchester-based company.

The award was for fridges, box vans and curtainsiders trailers that were specified with highly specialised roller bed floor systems for aircraft containers. The total award also included a mix of standard fridge trailers, standard curtainsiders and step frame double deck curtainsiders.

Goldstar Heathrow director Charile Fulk says: “We have been reviewing our vehicle fleet requirements and going through a replacement programme and the latest part of this process was to replenish our trailer fleet which totals just over 100.

“We were pleased with our discussions with Cartwright and felt we could develop a long-term relationship with them. We visited their headquarters for a factory tour and also spoke to some of their customers. The feedback was good. They said they would deliver in 12 weeks and the trailers were all delivered virtually on schedule which was very impressive.”
