Nikolay Glushnev has been appointed general director of AirBridgeCargo Airlines as Volga-Dnepr Group restructures following a disappointing first half of 2019.
The group, which consists of AirBridgeCargo, Volga-Dnepr Airlines and Atran Airlines says cargo volumes were down 6% to 2.5 billion freight tonne kilometres, 20% below expectations and budget.
The slow air cargo market, overcapacity and operational hurdles prevent the group from being profitable so the board of directors has introduced a restructuring plan to enhance quality, reduce costs and develop specialist services.
Glushnev’s appointment as general director, bringing more than 14 years of air cargo experience in various roles at AirBridgeCargo is aimed at restoring customer confidence.
