Freight tonnage rise of 1.3% for Frankfurt in February

Frankfurt Airport saw its cargo throughput continue its growth momentum in February, rising by 1.3 per cent to 161,765 tonnes.

The airport’s operator Fraport says in the first two months of the year the gateway has handled 325,389 tonnes – a rise of 3.8 per cent.

Fraport’s other airports it owns or has a stake in have seen contrasting performances.

Lima Airport in Peru saw a 5.1 per cent fall to 17,162 tonnes in February and a 0.3 per cent decline for the first two months of the year to 42,379 tonnes.

Ljubljana Airport posted a seven per cent increase to 836 tonnes in February, and a 10.8 per cent rise to 1,697 tonnes for the first two months of 2017.

Burgas Airport in Bulgaria saw cargo rise three per cent to 854 tonnes in February and has handled 2,499 tonnes, up 11.4 per cent in the year to date.

At its equity consolidated airports. Xian Airport in China saw tonnage rise 23.4 per cent to 14,666 tonnes and to 36,944 tonnes (+5.8 per cent) for the first two months of this year.
