Freight fall in 2016 at Milan Bergamo Airport

Orio al Serio International Airport also known as Milan Bergamo Airport saw freight fall by 2.7 per cent in 2016 – as it handled just over 117,000 tonnes in the year – down on the 121,000 tonnes in 2015.

The Italian gateway did have a good peak season seeing a 3.7 per cent uplift in December on the same month in 2015.

Origin and destination freight was stable year-on-year, which the airport says indicates the robustness of the local economy, and will give it a good platform for air cargo growth in 2017.

Last year, the gateway added 19 new airline routes throughout 2016, and was connected to 114 destinations across 33 countries.

Operators at Orio al Serio include DHL (pictured above), UPS and bellyhold flights by Pegasus Airlines.
