FIATA meets Argentinian authorities to present eFBL

The President of FIATA (International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations), Ivan Petrov, met with the authorities of the National Cabinet Office, Customs and the Ministry of Economy of Argentina, to present the eFBL, a digital system that certifies the validity of the document and allows for it to be verified by any stakeholders interacting with the document. Dr Petrov arrived in Buenos Aires accompanied by director general, Dr Stéphane Graber. During their stay in the country, the representatives of FIATA fulfilled a busy schedule that, in addition to national government officials, included representatives of the Argentine Association of International Cargo Agents (AAACI) and directors of companies linked to the activity, including the Assekuransa Group, a business group with Argentine capital whose focus is insurance for domestic and international cargo transportation, CargoWise and edoxOnline.

“The adoption of FIATA’s eFBL system as a standard is a great opportunity to reduce cost, and ultimately implies an enormous facilitation of import and export operations, which we believe can be very beneficial for a country like Argentina, that has a culture of trade with the world,” they pointed out.

FIATA is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and brings together 113 associations of freight forwarders and 5,500 individual members, all linked to international trade. The organisation was founded in 1926, with the aim of promoting the best practices for trade facilitation among logistics operators around the world.
