FedEx is extending its presence in Asia Pacific with the acquisition of Sydney, Australia-based logistics service provider Manton Air-Sea.

The Australian firm offers services including freight forwarding and customs brokerage, connecting customers to global markets through regional gateways and relationships with multiple airlines.

Manton specialises in the healthcare and automotive markets, and will operate as a subsidiary of FedEx Trade Networks.

Manton managing director, Michael Rolls says: “We have long admired the FedEx Trade Networks team, recognising their growth and expansion over the past several years. We look forward to joining FedEx and working together to expand in Australia and other markets.”

FedEx Trade Networks president and chief executive officer, Richard Smith says: “Adding Manton’s capabilities to FedEx Trade Networks and the broader FedEx portfolio will open up opportunities for us to continue to expand in Australia, a country with a strong GDP and a significant market in the Asia Pacific region.”

The acquisition is expected to be completed later this year and is subject to customary closing conditions.
