Explosive trace detectors rolled out across European airports

More than 50 European airports have received Morpho’s Itemiser 4DX explosive trace detectors in 2015, it was announced today at the Transport Security Expo in London.

Morpho says it has shipped more than 900 4DXs this year and the European destinations including airports in Austria, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and UK.

The 4DX is approved for passenger and cargo screening throughout the European Civil Aviation Conference’s 44 member nations, it delivers advanced explosives and narcotics detection and screening capabilities powered by a non-radioactive source.

The company says the 4DX is a lightweight, portable desktop system, which can detect and identify trace amounts of explosives on skin, clothing, carried items, bags, vehicles and other surfaces.

Morpho Detection president and chief executive officer, Karen Bomba says: “By investing in localised sales and service support, Morpho Detection was able to offer airports a comprehensive solutions partner to meet the new regulations and we have been thrilled by the response of our customers and partners.”
