Embracing efficiency and sustainability

The intersection of cutting-edge technology and a steadfast commitment to sustainability is reshaping the airfreight landscape. This convergence not only promises heightened efficiency but also sets the stage for a future where environmental responsibility is integral to operations.

“As we look to the future, it is imperative that we leverage innovation to drive efficiency and sustainability in the air cargo sector,” Keku Bomi Gazdar, Managing Director and CEO of AVIAPRO Logistics Services asserted, underscoring the industry’s need to adopt greener practices for sustained growth.

Al-Anood Al-Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of Cargo at Menzies Aviation, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the pivotal role of technology in reducing carbon footprints and streamlining operations: “Technology is a key enabler in our quest to streamline operations and reduce our carbon footprint. We are committed to adopting solutions that drive both efficiency and sustainability.”

This is a view that is also shared by Turkish Airlines, with the carrier’s Cargo Director South Asia Halit Tuncer outlining that “by leveraging data and AI, we can predict demand, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries, thereby enhancing our service quality and sustainability.”

Transformation in logistics

The digital revolution in logistics is a focal point for Soham Chokshi, CEO of Shipsy, who highlighted innovations in cargo management: “Digital tools are revolutionizing the way we manage logistics. Real-time visibility, automation, and predictive analytics are essential in meeting the dynamic needs of the industry.”

Ziv Schreiber, Founder & CEO of Freightos Group, elaborated on how their platform offers access to air cargo services, fostering seamless transactions among carriers, forwarders, and shippers: “Our platform democratizes access to air cargo services, making it easier for businesses to navigate the complexities of global trade.”

The spotlight on sustainability was further intensified by Mr. Kamesh Puri of Çelebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India Pvt Ltd., who detailed their implementation of practices at cargo terminals: “Sustainability is at the core of our operations. We are committed to implementing practices that reduce our environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency.”

The collective commitment to innovation and sustainability marks a pivotal moment for the air cargo sector, poised to redefine standards and practices. “Policies are geared towards creating an ecosystem that encourages innovation while ensuring sustainability, as we aim to support the industry in its transition to a more efficient and eco-friendlier model,” Dr Jivisha Joshi Gangopadhyay, Deputy Secretary – Logistics, DPIIT, concluded.
