EcoVadis awards XPO Logistics silver medal for sustainability progress in Europe

XPO, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable transport and logistics solutions in Europe, has been awarded a silver medal for the fourth time by EcoVadis for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy it has implemented in its European business. XPO Logistics’s overall score places it in the top 4% of road transport companies in Europe.

EcoVadis supports companies in their work to manage risk and compliance around four key pillars of their environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies (including environmental performance, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement).

Luis Gomez, president – Europe, XPO Logistics, said: “Receiving the EcoVadis silver medal for the fourth time reflects XPO’s strong commitment to continue developing innovative tools and initiatives to drive operational and service excellence for our customers, while reducing our carbon footprint. To that end, we have developed a roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.”

Some of the factors that helped XPO Logistics achieve this recognition include reducing its CO2 emissions by 13% in 2022, double the previous plan for this period.

XPO furthered this commitment this year with new initiatives that provide alternative transport solutions that help our customers further decarbonisation efforts in their supply chains. This includes new fuels, new technological tools and new intermodal solutions. One example is the launch of LESS® (Low Emissions Sustainable Solution), a solution developed by XPO Logistics that uses hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), a fuel that can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional fuel.

In addition to providing enhanced solutions that improve the accuracy of carbon footprint calculations and sustainable procurement policies, the company is reaffirming its commitment to technology that optimizes operations and minimizes empty kilometers to strengthen emissions reduction.

XPO’s innovative service offerings include technology-enabled truckload, less-than-truckload, truck brokerage, managed transport, last mile, and freight forwarding. The company tailors its solutions to customer-specific needs across consumer, trade, and industrial sectors and world-class events.
