Jaime Salguero, CCO of AIA Cargo, has offered an assessment of the industry’s trajectory post-pandemic and the role played by General Sales and Service Agents (GSSAs) in shaping its future.
“Our business is definitely back to normal post-pandemic cycles,” Salguero remarked, highlighting AIA Cargo’s commitment to digitalisation as a catalyst for operational efficiency and productivity.
By leveraging digital solutions, GSSAs can streamline processes and enhance customer experiences, driving growth and competitiveness.
“Innovation, digitalisation, diversification, and additional sales channels are key for us to add value to our partners,” Salguero emphasised.
“Our company structure is continuously working to grow our e-commerce business segment and add value to our partners.”
Looking at emerging trends, Salguero shared how digitisation is reshaping the GSSA sector. “We are working on a number of new solutions to help our operational efficiencies and overall productivity as a company. Digitalisation is certainly helping to shape a high professional industry.”
Salguero acknowledged the impact of external factors like inflation and geopolitical conflicts on global trade dynamics. As AIA Cargo navigates these challenges, Salguero underscored the importance of strategic planning and proactive risk management to mitigate potential disruptions.
“Geopolitical pressure brings uncertainty to the market but also capacity demand on certain routes and selective opportunities.”
Salguero shared that regions like Latin America, North America, and Africa are experiencing strong demand while acknowledging hurdles such as capacity constraints and rate fluctuations, notably in routes to China.
By integrating sustainability into business practices, GSSAs can not only reduce their environmental footprint but also enhance brand reputation and attract eco-conscious partners.
“Sustainability is important across our AIA network of offices, including recycling, energy reduction and environmental awareness amongst our teams,” said Salguero.
