China Postal Airlines orders 10 Next Generation 737 Converted Freighters

China Postal Airlines has ordered 10 Next Generation Boeing 737 Converted Freighters (BCF) pending the programme launch.

Boeing says the 737-800 is the first Next Generation 737 offered for conversion, and China Postal Airlines joined fellow Chinese carrier, YTO Airlines as the BCF launch customer. China Postal Airlines has also ordered seven 757-200s to convert into freighters.

Boeing predicts the Chinese air express market will be one of the fastest growing segments in the air cargo market. In its Boeing World Air Cargo Forecast, it predicts domestic China and intra-Asia market will expand by 6.7 per cent and 6.5 per cent, respectively over the next 20 years, compared to global growth of 4.7 per cent.

Boeing Commercial Aviation Services vice president of sales and marketing, Rick Anderson says: “We are honoured that China Postal Airlines has put their trust in Boeing as they expand their freighter fleet.”

“We are committed to this programme, which addresses a growing need in the market, and are currently working closely with multiple customers in China and around the world who are interested in the experience, reliable execution and seamless global support Boeing brings.”

Boeing Commercial Airlines senior vice president, Northeast Asia sales, Ihssane Mounir says: “With it express market growing at a double digit rate by e-commerce, China has surpassed the United States to become the number one e-commerce market in the world.”
