Cargolux gains and loses executives

CARGOLUX INTERNATiONAL AIRLINES has appointed Niek van der Weide as executive vice president (VP) of sales and marketing, while senior VP (SVP) of human resources, legal affairs and compliance, Henning zur Hausen has left the airline.

Van der Weide replaces Robert van de Weg, who resigned in January because of differences with the Cargolux board of directors about the airline’s strategy for the future.

Cargolux’s legal department director, Emese Bekessy, will replace Zur Hansen. Zur Hausen had been doing van de Weg’s old job on an interim basis. Van de Weg is now SVP of sales and marketing at Volga-Dnepr. Former Cargolux chief operating officer, Peter van de Pas, who resigned from Cargolux on 31 March joining van de Weg at Volga-Dnepr, to become SVP of scheduled operations.

Commenting on van der Weide’s appointment, Cargolux president and chief executive officer, Dirk Reich, says: “We are pleased to welcome Niek at Cargolux. He not only brings to us extensive knowledge of the air cargo industry, but also has an excellent reputation in the industry.”

On zur Hausen’s resignation, Reich says: “He was instrumental in helping to steer the company through difficult times and strengthen the organisation. I regret to see him go but I respect his wish to follow a career path outside of Cargolux.”
