Budapest Airport sets new cargo records

Budapest Airport continues to strengthen its position as a regional airfreight hub, reporting unprecedented cargo volumes in the first half of 2025.

In June alone, the airport handled 34,994 tonnes of cargo, representing a 40% increase compared to the same month last year. This milestone capped a record-breaking six-month period, during which Budapest Airport processed 199,319 tonnes of air cargo — nearly 50% more than in H1 2024.

The mid-year total not only surpasses the airport’s entire cargo throughput for 2022, but also comes close to matching full-year 2023 volumes, underscoring continued growth in e-commerce, logistics activity, and demand for regional connectivity.

With BUD Cargo City at the heart of its freight operations, the airport’s expanding cargo footprint reinforces Budapest’s strategic role in Central and Eastern Europe’s supply chain.
