Cargo traffic at Brussels Airport continued to grow in May as it was up 8.5 per cent on 2016 as the gateway handled 43,836 tonnes compared to the 40,396 tonnes in the same month last year.
Freighter traffic was up 9.4 per cent to 32,809 tonnes, an increase on the 29,989 tonnes achieved in May 2016.
Integrator cargo was up 10 per cent to 19,201 tonnes. a rise on the 17,460 tonnes in the same month last year. Belly traffic also rose by six per cent to 11,027 tonnes, up on the 10,407 tonnes in May last year.
In the first five months of 2017, freight is up 18.8 per cent to 225,941 tonnes, compared to the 190,265 tonnes in the same period in 2016. Freighter traffic made up 169,636 tonnes – up 21.4 per cent on the 139,692 tonnes in the same five months last year, while belly cargo was up 11.3 per cent to 56,305 tonnes.
