BeCon Projects appoints industry veteran Timo Stroh as New Managing Director

BeCon Projects has announced the appointment of Timo Stroh as Managing Director, marking a significant milestone in the company’s strategic growth. With over three decades of experience in the logistics and air cargo sector, Stroh brings deep industry expertise and an extensive international network.

Stroh, formerly Head of Global Airfreight at Dachser, has held key leadership roles at UPS and DHL, making him a seasoned professional in global freight forwarding. His long-standing engagement with the German Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association (DSLV)—where he has chaired the airfreight committee since 2019—demonstrates his commitment to advancing industry standards and advocating for the interests of German air cargo forwarders.

Joining founder and CEO Uwe Beck in the company’s top leadership, Stroh is set to expand BeCon Projects’ capabilities in addressing the evolving needs of the airfreight industry, particularly in pharmaceutical logistics, a sector where his expertise is expected to add significant value.

BeCon Projects: A Leader in Integrated Airfreight Solutions

Since its inception in 2009, BeCon Projects has been at the forefront of strategic air cargo consultancy, providing end-to-end solutions for infrastructure planning, material handling system (MHS) integration, and digital transformation. Operating under the principle “Form Follows Function,” the company ensures that facility design and operational workflows are seamlessly aligned to enhance efficiency.

BeCon Projects’ portfolio includes high-profile projects such as the development of a new air cargo terminal for dnata at Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, designed to handle an annual throughput of 800,000 tonnes, and a major cargo facility for WFS at JFK Airport, New York. These projects underscore BeCon’s role as a trusted partner for airlines, airports, and cargo handlers worldwide.

Automation and AI: The Next Frontier in Air Cargo

In his new role, Stroh will spearhead BeCon Projects’ expansion into cutting-edge automation technologies, reinforcing the company’s commitment to innovation. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics will be central to modernising air cargo operations, increasing efficiency, and strengthening supply chain resilience.

“Innovative technologies such as AI and robotics will be key to driving automation forward in our industry,” Stroh stated. “BeCon Projects aims not only to improve existing standards but also to develop new business models that prepare our clients for the future.”

A Vision for the Future

Reflecting on his new role, Stroh expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to BeCon Projects’ continued success and asserted that, “I chose BeCon Projects because it offers the ideal platform to act entrepreneurially, leveraging my 30+ years of experience in a dynamic, future-focused environment. My passion for airfreight and the unique energy of this industry drive me every day. With a highly motivated team and strong foundations, I look forward to leading the company through its next growth phase.”

Founder and CEO Uwe Beck welcomed Stroh’s leadership, emphasising the impact his expertise will have on BeCon’s trajectory and stated that, “With Timo Stroh, we have gained a visionary leader who will drive BeCon Projects’ strategic and operational growth. Together, we will solidify our position as a trusted partner in air cargo consultancy and prepare the company for the next generation of industry challenges.”
