BCube Air Cargo has opened its new facility in Belgium, with operations at Ostend-Bruges Flanders International Airport.
The Italian logistics company tells Air Cargo Week that the facility is located in Apron 1 at the airport, just in front of six parking stands for up to Boeing 747F size.
The warehouse has 3,200 sq m of covered areas, 1,800 sq m of airside areas and 100 sq m of office space.
It will be equipped with truck docks, scales for weighing loose and built-up cargo, storage areas for valuable cargo, a caster deck for the storage of up to 20 pallets.
The facility will employ 20 staff, and BCube says it is willing to increase this number “according to the volumes and the success of our new operations”.
Marcel Buelens, CEO of Ostend-Bruges Flanders International Airport says that having lost its largest cargo client in 2014/15 with 60 people losing their jobs, he promised he would do everything in his power to bring back cargo to its old level.
He says: “The search started in 2017. One and half years later I am very happy to be able to have fulfilled this promise and I am so proud to introduce BCUBE Aircargo Belgium. A world-class organisation with whom we hope to put Flanders International Airport Ostend-Bruges back on the worldwide air cargo map.”
Mauro Grisafi, general manager of BCube Air Cargo says: “We are launching warehouse and ramp handling services at Ostend Airport with the goal to develop new business for the airport, taking advantage of the great potential of the facility and its geographical location.”
He adds: “We are ready for new challenges in the air logistic sector!”
