ASM: free lunchtime briefings at Multimodal 2022 on new Customs declaration service

Agency Sector Management (ASM) will be giving free lunchtime briefings at the Multimodal 2022 Exhibition on how to prepare for the new Customs Declaration Service (CDS), which comes into force for imports at the end of September, and next March for exports.

Peter MacSwiney, chairman, ASM, and his team will be on hand on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday June 15 to offer advice on CDS, which will replace the UK’s legacy Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight (CHIEF) system.

The briefings will take place over a light lunch on stand C6 at the Multimodal 2022 Exhibition at the Birmingham NEC next week.

“We are already providing access to the CDS online training platform for more than two thirds of our user base through our Sequoia Customs clearance software,” said MacSwiney.

“As we work to help businesses prepare for the switch, we are aware that there are still a lot of questions about the new system, which we can help to answer.

“There are also businesses that have not taken steps to prepare for CDS, and they need urgent support to avoid facing non-compliance issues, which will rack up costs and cause delays.”

ASM, which has been providing Customs software solutions for forwarders for 36 years, is currently assisting more than 500 businesses that use Sequoia to be CDS-ready before the September deadline.

As part of ASM’s involvement in Multimodal 2022, MacSwiney will also take part in a panel discussion on the importance of technology in building resilient supply chains at 15.30 on Wednesday the June 15 in the Multimodal seminar room.

He will be joined by thought leaders from across the supply chain to discuss the importance of collaboration and data sharing, as well as aims and targets for the next generation of technology.

ASM has been shortlisted for the Multimodal 2022 Technology Company of the Year Award, with the results to be announced on Tuesday June 14 at a gala dinner, at which ASM is a sponsor.

ASM’s general manager Sharon Greer took part in a judging panel for the Multimodal Awards overseeing entries for the Shipper/Partner of the Year, the Multimodal Sustainability Award, the Young Logistics Professional of the Year Award, and the Innovation in Port Safety Award.
