Antonov Airlines and Kuehne + Nagel deliver urgent woodyard equipment from Estonia to Chile

  • Antonov Airlines, in collaboration with Kuehne + Nagel, has successfully transported oversized woodyard machinery parts for ANDRITZ from Tallinn, Estonia to Chile using the AN-124-100 aircraft. The shipment included seven pieces of cargo, with the heaviest weighing around 20 tonnes.
  • The loading and unloading process involved the aircraft’s rear cargo door and onboard crane systems, highlighting the AN-124’s unique heavy-lift capabilities.
  • The time-critical delivery supported scheduled repair works at a woodworking mill in Chile and required precise planning due to the size and urgency of the cargo. Antonov’s load planning team played a key role in safely accommodating the specialised equipment.

ANTONOV Airlines in cooperation with Kuehne + Nagel delivered Woodyard machinery parts by ANDRITZ from Tallin, Estonia to Chile.

To load and unload seven cargo pieces — the largest weighing about 20 tons — the rear door of the AN-124-100 was used in combination with the aircraft’s internal cranes.

“We’re proud to share the successful completion of a complex air transportation project using the An-124 aircraft — delivering specialized equipment for a woodworking manufacturing facility from Estonia to Chile. This operation presented significant logistical challenges, but our dedicated team and crew executed it flawlessly.

A special recognition goes to our load planning team, whose expertise ensured that every required piece was efficiently and safely accommodated within the aircraft. This achievement highlights not only the capabilities of the An-124 but also the outstanding professionalism and collaboration of everyone involved”, said Iryna Kyianytsia, Commercial Executive, Antonov Airlines.

“The parts were critical for the repair works and needed to get fast to the mill for the scheduled shutdown period,” Tiina Penttilä, Vice President of logistics, ANDRITZ Pulp & Paper, commented “This particular delivery required specialist planning to ensure the oversized equipment was delivered with extreme care and on time”.

The collaboration of leading logistics experts who respond quickly to critical missions ensures the completion of the mission within the required timeframe as well as accuracy and reliability at every step of the transportation.
