American and United post strong July

US carriers American Airlines and United Airlines have both posted strong growth in cargo ton miles flown for the month of July.

American Airlines achieved a year-on-year (YOY) rise of 5.7 per cent in system cargo ton miles in July compared to same month last year. It flew 201 million ton miles in the month.

For the first seven months of this year, American’s CTM is up YOY by 1.2 per cent on the same period in 2015. It has flown 1.35 billion ton miles in the period.

Fellow US carrier, United Airlines saw a significant 10.1 per cent YOY uplift in cargo revenue ton miles in July, compared to the same month last year. It flew 238.1 million ton miles in July.

For the first seven months of the year, United’s cargo revenue ton miles were up YOY by 1.8 per cent on the same period last year. It has flown 1.54 billion ton miles in the period.
