Airbus secures largest order of Farnborough International Airshow

flynas and Airbus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 90 aircraft, the largest order of the week at the Farnborough International Airshow, with the low-cost Saudi Arabian carrier purchasing 75 A320neo aircraft and 15 A330-900s.

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with flynas through this significant milestone for both A320neo and A330-900 aircraft,” Christian Scherer, Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, said.

The A330neo will allow flynas to further grow into widebody markets by building on the A320, benefiting from Airbus’ unique commonality. Both aircraft types offer flynas the perfect versatility and economics to expand into new markets.”

“We are excited to further strengthen our long-standing partnership with Airbus,” Bander Almohanna, flynas CEO and Managing Director, added. “The A320neo Family provides exceptional operational performance and environmental benefits…the A330neowill enhance our long-haul capabilities with its advanced technology and efficiency while supporting our growth plans.”

The deal saw Airbus take the crown as the aircraft manufacturer with the most number of orders at the 2024 edition of Farnborough, securing 139 across 5 airlines: Berniq, Drukair, flynas, Japan Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic.

Boeing announced 118 orders across 6 airlines, Embraer secured 9 orders from the Austrian and Dutch governments, ATR received an order for 4 aircraft from Air Tahiti and de Havilland Canada got 22 orders for its DHC-8-400 and DHC-6 Twin Otter.
