airBaltic Cargo has appointed APG Cargo as its cargo general sales agent in Ireland.
The new contract expands the relationship between airBaltic and the APG Network, the biggest passenger and cargo GSA network in the world.
APG Cargo (Ireland) will be providing a full complement of cargo GSA services with enhanced co-operation with partner airlines and postal operators worldwide.
airBaltic operates three Airbus A220 flights from Dublin to Riga weekly and two flights Dublin to Vilnius weekly with onward connections to its entire European network. The Irish cargo market will benefit from a global reach of 48 destinations on the airBaltic network, which include Helsinki, Moscow, Kiev, Abu Dhabi, Tbilisi, Tel Aviv and many more.
In 2019, airBaltic Cargo carried a record amount of cargo and mail, 4,800 tonnes, which equated to 21% year on year increase.
The growth can be partly attributed to the extra capacity airBaltic now offers with the introduction of the Airbus A220-300 aircraft to the fleet, one of the world’s greenest commercial aircraft. airBaltic is the first airline in the world to operate an A220-only fleet.
Bob Matharoo, cargo director, APG Cargo (Ireland), commented: “We are delighted to represent such a dynamic airline and are proud of the trust airBaltic has placed in us.
“APG Cargo will complement airBaltic’s online operations and provide global reach to the Irish cargo community.”
Richard Burgess, president of the APG Network additionally commented “We are delighted to be expanding our co-operation with airBaltic and this appointment underlines the interest in our fresh and dynamic approach to expanding cargo sales for our partner airlines, not only through our cargo GSSA services but also through our unique cargo interline solution.”
APG Airlines Cargo Interline Solution platform is a new innovative product to open up new markets for cargo sales and enables an airline to significantly increase its cargo interline revenue with multiple airline interline partners under one single agreement.
